Our story

Established in 2066 BS to keep science education local

Kamala Science Campus (कमला साइन्स क्याम्पस) was established in 2066 BS — 2009 AD — in Dhungrebas, Kamalamai, Sindhuli, Bagmati Province, Nepal. It was set up as a community-based campus rather than a private institution, developed with the support of Kamalamai Municipality and local stakeholders as a science education centre for the district.

Before it opened, students from Sindhuli who wanted a science degree generally had to move to a larger town or to Kathmandu. The campus was founded to close that gap: to make bachelor-level science available within the district, at a cost a community campus can sustain.

Today the campus runs the four-year Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) General program under Tribhuvan University, full-time and taught in English, with 50 seats per intake.

What we work towards

  • Access. Keep a quality science degree available to students in Sindhuli and the surrounding area.
  • Equity. Extend scholarship support so that economic background does not decide who can study science.
  • Practical learning. Support coursework with laboratory, library and computer facilities.
  • Community accountability. Run the campus as a community institution, answerable to the people it serves.

Affiliation & recognition

Where our programs are registered

The campus runs its degree program under Tribhuvan University, and is recognised by the national body that oversees higher education in Nepal.

Tribhuvan University

The campus is affiliated with Tribhuvan University for bachelor-level study. The B.Sc. General program follows the TU Institute of Science and Technology (IOST) curriculum, and examinations and certification are issued by the university.

University Grants Commission

The campus is recognised by the University Grants Commission of Nepal, the body that oversees and supports higher education institutions in the country.

Academic and student support on campus

The campus maintains the basic academic and student-support facilities that regular science study requires.

Science laboratories

Laboratories for practical work in the physical and biological sciences, used throughout the B.Sc. coursework.

Computer lab

A computer laboratory with network access for coursework, computational subjects and reference work.

Library

A library holding textbooks and reference material for the curricula taught at the campus.

Classrooms & multimedia

Regular classrooms with multimedia support for teaching and presentations.

Conference hall

A hall for seminars, orientation programs, guest lectures and campus events.

Sports & counselling

Sports facilities for students, and counselling support for academic and personal guidance.
